Nurse Navigator Services

We'll guide you through the entire breast care process

When patients and their families hear the word “cancer,” often they are overwhelmed by the emotions and decisions surrounding the diagnosis. West Valley Medical Center strives to allay those fears and make the whole process easier. From the first abnormal mammogram finding, the nurse navigator ― Registered Nurse Jennifer Davis ― connects with the patient to guide and educate through the challenges of diagnosis and treatment. She provides support, information and services ― along with answers to the many questions that often arise.

Davis provides assistance in obtaining the biopsy results for the patient. She also explains each step in the treatment plan, the procedures and studies that may be necessary, and what to expect during hospitalization and recovery at home.

More specifically, the nurse navigator guides breast cancer patients through the entire care process by:

  • Directing patients to those who can help answer questions about insurance and payment options.
  • Exploring available financial resources for those without insurance.
  • Collaborating with primary care providers, surgeons and other health care team members.
  • Providing ongoing information to patients and their families regarding treatment plans.
  • Informing patients and their families about support services in the community.
  • Helping schedule patients’ appointments.
