10K/5K raises funds for YMCA
Registration available for 2012 West Valley 10K/5K Run/Walk
CALDWELL, Idaho – The West Valley 10K/5K Run/Walk once again is promoting exercise, uniting the community and raising money for the Caldwell Family YMCA
All proceeds from the event, subtitled “Jogging for Joints,” are donated to the YMCA for joint-health-related programs. This year’s presenting sponsors are West Valley Medical Center, Idaho Press-Tribune, West Idaho Orthopedics & Sports Medicine and the YMCA.
Runners and walkers welcomed
The Run/Walk will begin at 10 a.m. April 28 at West Valley Medical Center, located at 1717 Arlington Ave. in Caldwell. Beforehand, those involved can pick up their event packets from
9 to 9:30 a.m. on race day, next to the starting line, or from 3 to 7 p.m. April 27 in the hospital’s Indian Creek Room.
The 10-kilometer race course begins and finishes at West Valley. Runners will be chip-timed as they wind through the beautiful areas of Fairview Golf Course; The College of Idaho; Caldwell Family YMCA; and Indian Creek, the jewel of downtown Caldwell.
At the finish line, participants will enjoy a hearty lunch; prize drawings; and family-friendly activities including face-painting, inflatable jumphouses and an interactive Zumba demonstration.
The 10K portion is a run only, while the 5K part is a run/walk.
Registration made easy — online
Participants can register in just minutes at ymcatvidaho.org; go to Program Registration and enter the search term “West Valley.” The early registration deadline is 3 p.m. April 20.
Registration brochures are available throughout the valley, or it can be downloaded at westvalleymedctr.com. Then fill out and tear off the registration portion of the brochure and bring it to the drop box ― along with payment ― at the front desk of either West Valley Medical Center or the Caldwell Family YMCA. Registration fees
Please make checks payable to the Caldwell Family YMCA. Fees for the Run/Walk are broken down by age and quantity:
- Adults, Individual (ages 18-64): $20
- Adults, Part of a Team (18-64): $15
- Seniors, Individual (65 and older): $10
- Seniors, Part of a Team (65 and older): $5
- Children, Individual (17 and younger): $10
- Children, Part of a Team (17 and younger): $5
— The team rate is only for groups with 10 or more participants. To qualify for this rate, all forms must be submitted together, with the team name on each form.
— All overpayments will be donated to the YMCA.
Late registration will be accepted from 5 p.m. April 20 through 5 p.m. April 26, then again on race day between 9 and 9:30 a.m. near the starting line. Late registrants won’t receive T-shirts until at least one week after the race.
