Caldwell, ID – West Valley Medical Center has appointed Jennifer Opsut as the new chief operating officer. She earned this promotion after demonstrating effectiveness administrative skills and leadership since joining the team in 2010.

“Jennifer has a rare ability to combine a keen attention to detail with a strong strategic perspective and big picture mentality,” CEO, Betsy Hunsicker, stated. “She has been especially instrumental in ensuring the success of our clinic and rural health strategies. With Jennifer’s leadership, West Valley Medical Center will continue to flourish.”

As the COO, Opsut will assume a greater role on the hospital’s administrative team. She will actively collaborate with the hospital's governing body, medical staff, hospital administrators and the departmental management team. Opsut will also be responsible for supporting quality improvement initiatives, controlling costs and ensuring efficient facility utilization. Another aspect of her activities will be establishing performance measures for department leaders,optimizing employee engagement, and continuing to improve patient satisfaction scores.

Opsut previously acted as interim COO at West Valley Medical Center following the departure of Cory Darling in November 2013. She began serving as the executive director of strategic planning and operational development in 2010 after relocating to Caldwell from Sarasota,Florida. Opsut began her career with the hospital’s parent company HCA in its West Florida Division in 2006.
