New classroom for orthopedic and spine patients at West Valley Medical Center

West Valley Medical Center is proud to announce the expansion of the hospital’s dedicated Ortho and Spine space. This thoughtfully designed area offers a streamlined, all-in-one experience for patients preparing for orthopedic surgery.

“This enhanced space reflects West Valley Medical Center’s broader mission of delivering high-quality, patient-first care through innovation and compassion,” said Dr. Richard Augustus, chief medical officer at West Valley Medical Center. “It centralizes everything our Ortho and Spine patients need including consultation, education, pre-op preparation, post-operative care and therapy needs.”

As part of West Valley’s ongoing commitment to excellence, the new space includes a specialized classroom for the hospital’s Ortho and Spine Ethos Class, a comprehensive education and pre-operative process that helps patients prepare both physically and mentally for surgery in one afternoon rather than multiple pre-surgery appointments. The class guides patients through everything they need to know before surgery, including what to expect during their hospital stay, post-operative care, physical therapy planning, and pain management options.

“Preparing for surgery can be overwhelming, especially when it involves multiple appointments at different locations. By consolidating this into a single visit, patients and their support teams save time while feeling more informed and empowered going into surgery,” said Dr. Augustus.

Additional key features of the enhanced space include:

  • Dedicated orthopedic and spine consultation rooms
  • A comfortable, tech-equipped classroom for Ortho and Spine Ethos classes
  • Personalized care coordination and support from the ortho and spine team
  • A calm, focused environment tailored specifically for patients
