A collaborative effort this fall between West Valley Medical Center, Terry Reilly Health Services and the Caldwell Night Rodeo has enhanced access to mammograms for women in our area. It all stemmed from the CNR Strong fundraiser held during the annual Caldwell Night Rodeo event in August and the CNR Golf Tournament in June.
The funds provide essential cancer screenings to those who are uninsured, underinsured, or underserved. The financial support increases access to cancer screenings, including mammograms and diagnostic screenings, at West Valley Medical Center.
“The partnership with Caldwell Night Rodeo and Terry Reilly is a powerful testament to what can be achieved when community organizations come together for a common cause,” said Isabella Chisholm, Chief Operating Officer at West Valley Medical Center. “By providing these vital screenings, we can help ensure that more women in our community have access to the preventive care they need.”
Patient Navigators at Terry Reilly Health Services are contacting women in Owyhee and Canyon counties to let them know that funds were raised to help uninsured women, or those with high deductibles, receive mammograms. Those interested are then scheduled for screening at West Valley’s state-of-the-art imaging center that features 2D and 3D mammography.
“Our Patient Navigators remove barriers that keep people from receiving care. Cost is a big factor for many, so the CNR Strong funds are wonderful. Our team also provides language services, scheduling help or transportation to make these mammograms happen,” said Jesus Blanco, Outreach Manager for Terry Reilly Health Services.
“Caldwell Night Rodeo is honored to be a small part of helping community members receive the important screenings they need. We’ve all heard that early detection saves lives and an inability to pay should never get in the way of that opportunity,” said Nicole Cassity, Caldwell Night Rodeo Marketing Manager.
West Valley received more than $30,000 in 2023 CNR Strong funds. Proceeds from the 2024 rodeo and golf tournament are still being tallied.
