Caldwell, ID - – Effective March 3, 2014, Betsy Hunsicker will join West Valley Medical Center as its chief executive officer. She currently serves as chief operating officer at Rose Medical Center, a 275-bed hospital in Denver, CO. Both facilities are among the nearly 162 hospitals and 113 surgery centers nationwide that are currently part of one of the country's leading providers of health care services, HCA Healthcare.
"We enthusiastically welcome Betsy to our leadership team. She comes highly recommended and has been enthusiastically received by all who’ve interacted with her during the selection process," stated Greg Angle, president, HCA Mountain Division. "As a result, Betsy is already widely considered an excellent match for West Valley Medical Center and the communities that encompass Canyon County.”
As CEO at West Valley Medical Center, Hunsicker’s top priorities will be supporting further improvement of quality and patient satisfaction as well as enhancing employee and physician engagement. She will focus on advancing the hospital’s ability to consistently deliver healthcare services that meet the community’s current and future needs.
Hunsicker noted, “West Valley Medical Center is an excellent facility with highly skilled staff, board-certified physicians and a very involved governing board. I look forward to working with our leadership team to ensure that we continue to provide the high quality care and personalized attention for which this hospital is known, while developing new programs and services for patients and their families. The future is bright for West Valley Medical Center and I am thrilled to be a part of it.”
Over the course of her career, Hunsicker has had numerous involvements in the communities she has served, and currently holds a position on the board of The Denver Hospice and participates in the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Healthcare Committee. Given these attributes and her professional experience, she has much to offer toward improving health and wellness in Canyon County as CEO at West Valley Medical Center.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead an organization that is such a valuable part of the community,” said Hunsicker. “When I visited this hospital for the first time, it was immediately obvious that it is a great source of pride for the community, as well as hospital employees and physicians.”
During the past 11 years, Hunsicker held several positions with progressing responsibility at Rose Medical Center. Prior to three years as COO at that facility, she served as vice president of business development where she made visible and significant improvements. Previously, she worked at PacifiCare Health Systems (now part of United Health Care) and Kaiser Permanente in Denver, after launching her healthcare career at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She earned a bachelor's degree of science in industrial engineering from Northwestern University, and dual masters degrees in health services administration and business administration from the University of Florida.
Hunsicker’s husband, Jeff, and their two children, will join her in making their home in Caldwell. They love the outdoors, and are looking forward to becoming part of the community as well.
“My husband and I always envisioned living in a town where neighbors are connected and people are invested in the future,” Hunsicker explained. “Caldwell definitely fits that bill.”
