West Valley Medical Center welcomes new chief nursing officer
West Valley Medical Center announces the appointment of Angie Merrell as the new Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). Angie Merrell brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of excellence from her recent role as Assistant CNO at Ogden Regional Medical Center in Ogden, Utah and her nearly 20 years of experience in nursing.
While at Ogden Regional, Angie has played a key role in the hospital's significant achievements, including being named one of the Top 100 Hospitals in the nation by PINC AI. Her leadership was instrumental in enhancing patient experience and fostering a positive culture within her teams.
Travis Leach, chief executive officer of West Valley Medical Center, expressed his excitement about Angie's new role, stating, "Angie's dedication to patient excellence and her leadership in achieving outstanding quality scores are truly impressive. We are thrilled to welcome her to West Valley, where her expertise and passion for patient care will undoubtedly contribute to our continued success as a 5-star rated facility when it comes to patient safety."

Angie's professional journey is distinguished by her extensive educational background and numerous certifications. She earned her registered nursing license from Tulsa Community College, a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Texas, and a master’s degree in nursing leadership from American Sentinel University. In 2018, she achieved her Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification, followed by her Nurse Executive Advanced Board Certification (NEA-BC) in 2023.
When she's not working, Angie is an avid outdoor enthusiast. She looks forward to enjoying gardening, hiking, boating, and running in southern Idaho. Angie and her husband, along with their 17-year-old daughter, are eager to embark on this new journey. With four children ranging in age from 17 to 28 and three grandchildren, Angie anticipates many family visits and exciting adventures in her new role.
