CALDWELL, Idaho – West Valley Medical Center recently welcomed two new executives to help shape the hospital’s continued expansions and improvements in Caldwell and beyond.

Chief Operating Officer

Cory Darling brings his diverse background to the Chief Operating Officer role.

“Cory infuses a great deal of energy into our already robust efforts to improve patient care and access in Canyon County,” CEO Julie Taylor said.

He overlooks day-to-day facility and support operations, along with the Lab, Pharmacy and Imaging Services. He also manages campus improvement projects such as the current Critical Care Unit renovation.

Darling recently made the trek northwest after more than a decade in Tennessee and Kentucky. Most recently he served as an associate administrator of HCA’s Parkridge Health System in Chattanooga, which comprises three hospitals and 543 total beds.

Earlier, Darling was an associate administrator for more than 1 ½ years at Greenview Regional Hospital in Kentucky. From 2001-2006, Cory worked with a major international entertainment corporation, successful independent publishing company and privately owned management company.

Darling received his bachelor of business administration degree from Belmont University. In 2008 he earned his MBA in health care from The Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University.

Chief Financial Officer

After returning home to Caldwell a year and a half ago to join the West Valley Medical Center community, Kate Fowler has been promoted to Chief Financial Officer.

“Kate brings key experience, exceptional character and a wealth of talent to this vital administrative position,” said Julie Taylor, CEO at West Valley Medical Center. Fowler served as controller/director of health information management for a year and a half.

Fowler graduated from Boise High School and The College of Idaho. While there she majored in accounting and business administration, receiving a bachelor’s degree for each.

Previously Fowler, a Certified Public Accountant, worked as a senior manager at Ernst & Young and a senior consultant at Deloitte & Touche.

Outside the office, she is working toward a master's of business administration degree from Northwest Nazarene University and expects to graduate in December 2012. She has a passion for the Treasure Valley community, too; she is an active member of the Junior League of Boise.

West Valley Medical Center, Caldwell’s community hospital, is one of the leading hospital facilities and employers in Idaho. This 150-bed, nationally accredited facility is dedicated to providing high-quality, cost-effective healthcare to Treasure Valley residents.
