New Nurse Residency Program

I am excited to announce the first year of our Nurse Residency program here at WVMC!

In today's environment, the shortage of experienced nurses has resulted in programs designed to prepare new nurse graduates to fill open nursing positions, and emerging nurse residency programs are competing for new graduate nurses. The HCA Nurse Residency has been designed to support graduate nurses as they transition into the role of a professional nurse.

Our Nurse Residency is a year-long, evidence-based program designed to reduce first-year nursing turnover and increase nursing satisfaction and performance. Through the HCA Nurse Residency, graduate nurses will experience structure and support that will allow a new generation of registered nurses to thrive and grow her at WVMC.

Patient Experience Results

I am pleased to share that for Q4 2017, West Valley ranked No. 5 out of all HCA facilities for inpatient overall experience. We are in the 91st percentile for the Press Ganey national database. I am very proud of the work our nurse leaders are doing rounding on each patient every day. In addition, our overall rating for our ED increased 4.5 points from Q3 and our Test and Treat departments made significant gains and are getting close to the 75th percentile nationally.
