5-Star rating from CMS earned by West Valley

West Valley Medical Center has once again been nationally recognized for its commitment to quality and patient safety. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) awarded West Valley a 5-star rating in its 2025 Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings update, placing the hospital among 290 facilities nationwide to achieve this honor.

CMS assigns star ratings annually based on performance in five critical quality categories, including safety of care, readmission, patient experience, and mortality.

West Valley’s commitment to excellence stands out not only nationally but also across Idaho. West Valley Medical Center is the only hospital in the state to earn both the CMS 5-star rating and an “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, reflecting strong performance across multiple measures of quality and patient safety.

“This recognition is a direct reflection of the dedication, expertise, and compassion of our colleagues and medical staff,” said Dr. Richard Augustus, Chief Medical Officer at West Valley Medical Center. “We are proud to provide safe, high-quality care close to home for our patients and families, and this award affirms that commitment.”

West Valley Medical Center continues to invest in evidence-based practices, innovative technologies and a culture of safety to ensure patients receive the very best care.
