Facilities & Security Update
Jennifer Opsut
COO
As I leave Northbound to Alaska Regional Medical Center, I would like to thank all of the West Valley Medical Staff physicians and providers for continuing to provide high quality healthcare to all of local communities we serve and beyond. It has been a pleasure to work with all of you over the last 8 years. West Valley is an amazing place to work and I will always hold many memories close to my heart!
Completed Projects
Endovascular Lab construction and equipment installation is completed. The new equipment allows the physicians to perform peripheral vascular procedures with a reduction in Fluoro exposure time and dosage.
Current Projects
PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program) Relocation & Remodel project will begin in the basement of the 315 Elm building. The PHP provides a continuation of care for discharging inpatients from the Behavioral Health Unit and an outpatient option for patients to avoid an inpatient stay when someone is struggling at a lower level of care. This relocation and remodel project allows the PHP to have larger space to expand the program and have a more functional workspace to interact with patients. Patients begin the program with an Initial assessment by a multidisciplinary team (MD, RN, LCSW, and Activity Therapist). During the program patients, attend Group therapy in five different groups five days per week. A multidisciplinary treatment team meets weekly, including medication management, and Crisis counseling as needed for the individual patient.
Parking Lot Seal Coat project will be the weekend of July 28 and the weekend of August 4. This project will consist of cleaning and sealcoating the parking lot with restriping the spaces to identify parking spaces for physicians, patients, and visitors. Employees should be parking in spaces dedicated to employee parking based on the WVMC parking policy.
Future Projects
Facility Internal Signage project is under review and being evaluated to improve the internal signage for patients and visitors.
BHU Expansion is pending funding to expand adult inpatient behavioral health beds and add adolescent inpatient behavioral health beds
Facility Updates
Chapel The chapel/spiritual area is located on the first floor near the surgical waiting room. Our volunteer Chaplains are very excited for this location to be able better serve the patients, visitors, and staff when needed.
Surgical Consult Room is OPEN! Location is now next to the inpatient surgical waiting area. If you have any additional needs within the room, please contact Shawn Lindsay.
Security Update
New LiveSafe App Enhances Employee Safety
LiveSafe! Personal safety at work is top of mind for many employees and is a major influence on the employee experience. The new LiveSafe app from HCA Information Protection & Security helps address these security concerns when downloaded onto mobile devices. The app, which can be downloaded free from iTunes and the Google Play Store, will allow colleagues to report suspicious activity – documented with photos if appropriate - directly to their Security team. It allows reporting of lost & found items, vandalism, safety hazards, and traffic/parking along with incidents like violence/assault, verbal threats, theft, and harassment/bullying. It even has a feature allowing employees to have a “virtual escort” tracking them to their car after work.
