HIM Update
Dictation System Changes
Heather Howard
Facility HIM Director
As you know, our Nuance-hosted dictation system was affected by the NotPetya cyberattack. Due to this attack, HCA has decided to have more than one transcription vendor. Moving forward that will be M*Modal for West Valley Medical Center. This system is in use throughout the country and is considered to be more intuitive and user friendly than the Nuance system. You are able to access the new dictation system using the same extension that we have had – x3743; outside the facility dial 208-455-3743. Information about using the system is attached.
The following are the currently available work types. More work types will be added in the near future. Please also note that the codes for each work type have changed:
- History and Physical, work type 1
- Consultation, work type 2
- Operative Report, work type 3
- Discharge Summary, work type 4
- Pre Op H&P, work type 11
- Psychiatric H&P, work type 91
- Psychiatric Evaluation, work type 93
- Psychiatric Consultation, work type 92
- Psychiatric Discharge summary, 94
During this transition, it will be important for you to enter the following information each time you dictate to ensure your reports make it to the patient’s chart in a timely manner:
- Your first and last name
- The patient’s last name, first name
- Patient account number
- Date of service
Until more work types are added, for those work types not available through dictation we have several options available:
- Dragon dictation directly into pDOC – if you are not currently set up for Dragon, please contact Lyndsey Jacobs at 208-455-4017 to get set up.
- Type directly into pDOC
- Handwrite a note – we’ll get it scanned into HPF
We apologize for this continued inconvenience and disruption to patient care but appreciate your patience and support as we move through this new solution.
