Recognized prostate cancer care
The specialized urological team at West Valley Medical Center comprises some of the most sought-after urologists in the Treasure Valley. We are proud to be named to America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Prostate Surgery by Healthgrades™.
The American Cancer Society (ACS) suggests men of average-risk receive an annual prostate cancer test starting at 50 years old. It is critical that men receive prostate cancer tests and testicular cancer checks regularly because cancer is most treatable in its early stages.
If urology surgery is necessary, our urology service line coordinator will follow your progress throughout your entire stay at West Valley Medical Center. The coordinator will help ensure your experience meets and exceeds your expectations.
Urology surgical care services include treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), which can be treated with an outpatient procedure called GreenLight™ Laser PVP (photoselective vaporization of the prostate). Because the procedure involves immediate prostate tissue removal, it is an effective treatment for BPH, with the advantage of a faster recovery time that doesn't require an overnight hospital stay.
Additional urological procedures performed at West Valley Medical Center include, but aren’t limited to:
- Prostate cryoablation to freeze and kill prostate cancer cells
- Prostatectomy to surgically remove the prostate
- Nephrectomy to surgically remove the kidney
- Lithotripsy for kidney stone treatment
