The intensive care unit (ICU) at West Valley Medical Center is designed and staffed to care for critically ill adult patients. Our 13-bed ICU provides intensive care to patients who require constant monitoring or special therapy.
The ICU also provides care to post-anesthesia recovery patients and some outpatients, including patients having a cardiac catheterization procedure or cardioversion.

ICU care team
When you, or a loved one, are in our ICU, you will receive compassionate care from our dedicated ICU team. Our critical care staff includes specialized physicians, registered nurses, certified nursing assistants and monitor who work together to provide quality care.
The critical care nurses are specially trained in advanced life support techniques to handle the specialized needs of our patients, as well as to monitor and maintain the specialized equipment that is used in the unit.
The equipment used in the ICU is some of the most advanced equipment available today. Some of our equipment includes state-of-the-art ventilators, a system that monitors all of the patient’s vital signs and specialized monitoring that is unique to intensive care units.
Each room has a patient lift system that ensures both patient and staff member are safe when lifting, turning and transferring.
