What is interventional radiology?
Interventional radiology (IR) is a sub-specialty of radiology using minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose and treat diseases. It uses the least invasive techniques to decrease your risk, pain and recovery time in comparison to traditional surgeries.
Interventional radiology procedures we offer
We work with Gem State Radiology, which has expanded its services to include the Caldwell area, to provide interventional radiology services, including:
- Injection procedures for pain management
- Placement of temporary and permanent catheters for dialysis
- Evaluation and maintenance of existing arteriovenous (AV) grafts for dialysis patients
- Placement and removal of inferior vena cava (IVC) filter for patients at risk for pulmonary embolism (blood clots in lungs)
- Placement of ports and catheters for patients on long-term chemotherapy or the infusion of other medications
- Placement of urology catheters and stents
