It was an exciting year in 2016 with the implementation of our Clinical Value Analysis Team (CVAT)! Clinical Value Analysis is a physician-led, data-driven and patient-focused process. The intention is to bring physician preference items (PPI) into use at the hospital based on evidence.

We appreciate the support from committee members and submitting physicians. We kicked CVAT off in January 2016 with a visit from the Healthtrust (HPG) Corporate team, including CMO Dr. Schlosser. Four CVAT meetings were held starting in May, which included seven product submissions and yielded an acceptance rate of 86%, with one product on hold for 2017 routine capital. We have found the most successful submissions have strong clinical evidence and overwhelming, if not unanimous, support from the physician-led committee. If you have a request for a new product or service line, please feel free to contact me, Ginna Maggard, or one of our committee members.

Recent approved products: Prevena Wound Management System, LINX Reflux Management System, Cartiva SCI Implant, and Cellutome Epithelial Harvesting System.

New product forms are available on the Intranet or in hard copy in the OR.
