Family Maternity Center Tour

When: Tours are held the second Tuesday (5:30pm - 6:30pm) and the second Saturday (3:30pm - 4:30pm) of the month

Childbirth Classes

West Valley Medical Center offers a comprehensive education program for expectant families. We strive to provide you with all the information you need before delivery and prepare you for the adventure of parenthood before you go home. All classes are FREE if you have pre-registered to deliver at West Valley Medical Center.

Childbirth Preparation

Cost: Free to mothers delivering at West Valley.

When: Second Saturday of every month from 9:00am - 4:00pm

Location: Indian Creek Room

Be fully informed on what to expect when your special day arrives and have all your questions answered for a memorable birthing experience. This class should be completed at least three weeks prior to your due date and support companions are encouraged to attend. Taught by an experienced Family Maternity Center registered nurse. In this class, you’ll learn about:

  • In-depth review of labor and delivery process
  • Relaxation and coping techniques
  • Birth and pain management options
  • Cesarean (C-section) delivery information
  • Newborn FAQ

Breastfeeding 101

Cost: Free to mothers delivering at West Valley.

When: Second Tuesday of every month from 6:30pm - 9:00pm

Location: Indian Creek Room.

Recommended during the last three months of pregnancy, this class helps new mothers get off to a successful start breastfeeding their newborns. Support companions are encouraged to attend with expectant mothers. Taught by an internationally certified lactation consultant. In this class, you'll learn about:

  • The many benefits of breastfeeding
  • Good latch vs. poor latch
  • Signs of a well-fed baby
  • Pumping basics
  • Successful breastfeeding tips for the working mom.
