March is National Nutrition Month ®. This year's theme is "Go Further with Food" with an emphasis on food loss and waste. Some tips to help with this are:
- Plan meals and snacks in advance.
- Consider the food you have on hand before buying more.
- Buy only the amount of food that can be eaten fresh or frozen within a few days.
- Reuse leftovers.
This month's recipe is a 20-minute Chicken Creole. The recipe calls for a small amount of celery. If buying a large bundle cut up extra pieces to put in bags for easy to grab snacks during the week.
It is important to keep a variety of healthful foods from all of the food groups in our diet. Realize the benefits of healthy eating by consulting with a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. They can help you set personal goals when it comes to your preferences and healthy eating.
