April celebrates the "Every Kid Healthy" movement that promotes good nutrition in schools and being active. When it comes to food, it provides the fuel and building blocks that children need to grow and be healthy. Snacks whether they are at home or school, can be an easy way to boost nutrition and provide fuel throughout the whole day. This month's recipe uses healthy apples as a fun snack that helps kids be creative in the kitchen!
Ingredients
- Apples
Spread Options
- Peanut Butter
- Almond Butter
- Greek Yogurt
- Jam/Jelly
Topping Options
- Honey
- Nuts
- Chocolate Chips
- Oats/Granola
- Raisins
- Shredded Coconut
- Sliced banana
- Berries
Instructions
- Wash and dry apples thoroughly
- Core apples
- Slice crosswise to produce 1/4-1/2-inch thick round slices
- Spread with nut butter, yogurt, or jam/jelly
- Top with nuts, chocolate chips, dried fruit, etc.
- Enjoy!
