Chaplain Support You Can Rely On

Our Spiritual Care Services are under the direction of a staff board-certified chaplain. Designated the coordinator of spiritual care, this individual directs the purpose, recruitment and training of volunteer chaplains.

The purpose of Spiritual Care Services is to bring spiritual healing and support of God's presence to patients, their families and the employees of the hospital. The Spiritual Care staff and volunteers are an integral part of the healthcare team, composed of local area clergy and qualified lay chaplains. These volunteers represent the majority of the faith community within the area.

With the consent of the patient, volunteer chaplains can assist patients and their families with their spiritual needs by connecting them with their own pastors, bishops or rabbis; share problems, concerns, fears and questions; assist patients and families in making difficult decisions; and visit, counsel and pray with them.

The chaplains make daily rounds five days a week, or more, and offer compassionate care, empathetic listening, prayer and other services as requested. In addition to daily rounds, the chaplains commit themselves, usually a week at a time, to be available on call 24/7 for emergencies or crisis situations.

Spiritual Care Services, along with an alliance with Four Rivers Hospice of Caldwell, provides grief recovery classes to the public at no charge. These classes are held for six weeks quarterly in Caldwell. For more information contact the coordinator at 455.4026 or Four Rivers Hospice at 459.2675.
