Discharge Two Midnight Prompt

Abigail Murray
Director of Clinical Informatics

Is your Medicare patient leaving earlier than originally planned? Beginning January 29, 2019, providers discharging Medicare A&B patients earlier than expected will be prompted to address the Two Midnight (CMS) rationale screen shown below. This gives providers a seamless opportunity to add supporting documentation to the patients chart and will aid in compliance and potentially reimbursement.

Please direct questions about this screen to Abigail.Murray@hcahealthcare.com.

PCI Discharge Documentation

Are you caring for patients that have undergone Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI)? PCI documentation is returning to the Meditech Discharge order!

On January 29, 2019, providers at WVMC will notice PCI documentation options on their Discharge orders (see screenshot below). This documentation aids in public reporting and ensures that patients are going home with necessary medications and treatment. The Meditech screens include options for documenting statin prescriptions, antithrombotic agents, and continuation of aspirin.

Please direct questions about this update to Abigail.Murray@hcahealthcare.com.

ePrescribe

Did you know many commercial pharmacies such as Walmart and Sam’s Club are transitioning to “paperless” only narcotic prescriptions in 2020? Stay ahead of the game by enrolling in ePrescribe at West Valley: ePrescribe allows providers to leave their script pads at the office and gives them tools to transmit medications (controlled substances too!) directly to patients’ pharmacies. It also provides real-time insurance eligibility and formulary checking beneficial to providers and patients alike.

Interested? Email or call our Director of Clinical Informatics, Abigail Murray, for ePrescribe access and training.
