West Valley Medical Center - February 06, 2019

Renee DeHaas
Director of Patient Safety

We are officially in our Joint Commission (TJC) survey window for our 2019 Triennial Accreditation Survey. While we don’t expect (TJC) tomorrow, we know that in the past three years they have moved up surveys for multiple facilities including those in our Division. We are predicting their visit in the late summer or early fall before our October due date, but encourage all areas to remain survey ready every day. Remaining vigilant and continuously evaluating the level of care and environment of safety we provide our patients and staff is the best way to ensure consistent, high-quality results.

You all deserve a loud and boisterous “CONGRATULATIONS” for the excellent care provided to our patients throughout the 4th Quarter of 2018. West Valley Medical Center was ranked #1 on the HCA Clinical Excellence Scorecard in October, November and December of 2018! We are so proud to be recognized at this remarkable level of clinical care and improved patient outcomes. Low infection rates, mortality and complication rates, and service line initiatives are often difficult to impact but West Valley has continued to excel in these areas much in part due to your efforts. Your commitment to our patients is evident and we are so proud of the work you all do.

To ensure that we are always focusing on improving patient outcomes and providing a strong culture of safety for our providers and staff, West Valley has initiated Daily Safety Huddles at 11:00 am Monday – Friday. Encouraging transparency, reporting and accountability the focus during these huddles which include leaders from all areas of the hospital. Our discussions have highlighted good catches, safety events, recall notices, security updates, environmental observations and more, all in the hopes of strengthening our culture of safety here at West Valley Medical Center.

Thank you again for your commitment to providing our community with high-quality, compassionate care. If you have questions regarding our TJC accreditation processes, clinical scorecard, daily huddles or any other patient safety/quality programs, please reach out to Renee DeHaas (*56505), renee.dehaas@hcahealthcare.com.
