Completed projects and purchased equipment

C-Arm: A new C-Arm has been added to our operating suites at the hospital bringing us to a total of three, two of which are digital. Our new digital c-arm, the OEC 9900 Elite, is able to provide live, high quality digital imaging for all types of surgeries, and will be equipped with a vascular imaging package.

New fetal heart monitors: Remote Fetal Heart Monitors through GE Healthcare are in operation at the Family Maternity Center. Along with the new base Coro 259cx Series systems, two new Mini RX Telemetry boxes allow patients to ambulate down hallways and take jetted tub baths while on continuous monitoring. Additionally, we have a new Monica Novii unit used for monitoring larger BMI patients. This unit allow the patient to ambulate as far as the nursing station, but it is mainly used when heart tones and contractions can’t be detected through external transducers.

In progress

Bariatric service line: Sleeve Gastrectomy and Roux en Y bariatric surgical services are coming to West Valley! We are collaborating with David J. Brown, MD to expand access for bariatric and metabolic care to those in the Western Treasure Valley. Clinical plans and equipment purchases are underway. Our first “Weight Loss Seminar” with Dr. Brown is scheduled for Thursday, August 29.

CAT scan: In addition to our current CT technology at the main hospital campus, a second GE CT 64 slice scanner will be installed in the hospital by year end to allow redundancy.

Interventional radiology suite: Plans are underway to replace our original interventional fluoroscopy suite; this allows us to further our advancements in providing a minimally invasive, minimal dose, image-guided procedural environment.

Emergency department expansion - behavioral health rooms: We received funding to expand our Emergency Department to add a behavioral health suite. The expansion will allow us to provide a safer environment for this at-risk population. Additionally, the suite will offer additional accommodations for those patients that may be waiting for placement for a prolonged period. Architectural designs are in development.

On the horizon

BHU expansion is pending funding to expand adult inpatient behavioral health beds and add adolescent inpatient behavioral health beds.

Ambulatory surgery center and FSED: HCA Healthcare is planning an Ambulatory Surgery Center to be located in Ada County. We are currently working with physician partners to make that venture a success. Additionally, we feel that the Treasure Valley has ideal locations with care gaps for a freestanding emergency department; we are currently pursuing that project and the associated funding.

Clinical Value Analysis Team (CVAT)

Clinical Value Analysis Team (CVAT) is a physician-led, data-driven and patient-focused initiative to bring physician preference items (PPI) into use at the hospital based on evidence. We have found the most successful submissions have strong clinical evidence and overwhelming, if not unanimous, support from the physician-led committee.

Next meeting: September 11, 7:00am in the Indian Creek room
