100 Top Hospitals – Truven Health Analytics

For a fourth consecutive year, West Valley has been named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals® by Truven Health AnalyticsTM, a leading provider of information and solutions to improve the cost and quality of health care.

According to Truven, the facilities selected to the 100 Top Hospitals list have consistently demonstrated quality care at a reasonable cost. West Valley, a 150-bed facility, is listed in the Medium Community Hospitals category along with 19 other facilities across the country.

Patient Safety Excellence Award – Healthgrades

West Valley received the Healthgrades’ 2017 Patient Safety Excellence Award. West Valley is the only facility in the Treasure Valley and among 460 short-term, acute care hospitals to accomplish this notable recognition. The distinction places them in the top 10 percent nationwide and acknowledges how effectively patients are protected from serious and potentially preventable complications during their stay at the hospital.

Grade ‘A’ in Patient Safety – The Leapfrog Group

West Valley has received its sixth consecutive “A” grade in the biannual Hospital Safety Score published by The Leapfrog Group. The designation recognizes exceptional performance in consistently meeting evidence-based patient safety guidelines.

The “A” grade for spring 2017 is a continuation of West Valley’s record of top honors from The Leapfrog Group. Since its first Hospital Safety Score review in 2012, the hospital has received nine “A” grades — the most of any facility in Idaho.

Bronze Safe Sleep Hospital – Cribs for Kids

West Valley was recently certified as a safe sleep hospital at the bronze level by the Cribs for Kids® National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification program. By becoming certified, West Valley is demonstrating that it is committed to being a community leader and is pro-actively eliminating as many sleep-related deaths as possible.

To be designated a Bronze Certified Safe Sleep Hospital, the hospital must develop and maintain a Safe Sleep Policy, provide staff working on the units serving infants and children under the age of one year with training on infant safe sleep, and provide infant safe sleep education to the parents of infants prior to discharge.
